What a difference...

... a word made.

I almost fell asleep in my office by staring blankly at the computer screen when one of my female colleague (early 30's) was telling everyone of her little adventure yesterday evening at a cold storage. There she was doing some grocery shopping when a young guy suddenly approached and wanted to 'xian' her (according to her). She found out that the guy is like 4-5 years her junior and she was pretty shocked (in what sense, I don't know).

My instant reply (I wanted to comment but I decided to hold it back) was, "What's wrong? I think you still look young."

Sure, it would be a nice compliment, BUT if you notice... the word "still" actually has a hidden meaning that can be quite... hmm... should I say hurtful?

When the statement reads, "You looked young", it straightly means you look young.

When the statement reads, "You still looked young", it means... you are supposed to be old!

So guys, next time do watch what you say to a girl. One little word and you can be done for.

Sign off,
Val's being bored in the office.
